Which is better, dell or HP compaq laptop?

DELL is NO1 within the sales charts for couple of years.No one can deny this.



The build point is excellent ,also the support.dell.com website offers briskly and easy access to software updates by service strip.



Go for latitude,inspiron series. The Dell D820 is the best laptop I've seen(sold 20+of them)

HP is also ok,but they lack the build element of Dell

That depends on what you like,both are reputable companies next to good products.
I hold only used Dell. There computer is great, but tech support STINKS.
HPs own good enthusiasm expectancy.
I love my compaq desktop, but I love my toshiba satellite laptop more!
In my experience Dell are cheap (so they look good on paper) but their build point is not good and their reliability is poor and their support is poor.



So if you are choosing Dell or HP, step HP.

In the world of PC's both are garbage. They're made cheaply next to generic and proprietary parts. If you want a computer that's gonna last a long time and a company next to outstanding customer service go beside either Alienware or Falcon Northwest.
I used to work near Dell, now I work near HP...they are both excellent! The choice is up to you. My favourite models: Dell D620 or HP NC6400.
My view is that neither of the ones you selected are within my recommendations. If I have to give you an belief as a computer tech, I would have to enunciate, Sony VAIO would be the best.
