Which rock-hard drive should I choose?

I am getting a dell laptop and i don't know which complicated drive to choose. I dont want to spend that much more money. I will be using the laptop for the following, if that helps:

internet

downloading music - from internet, to mp3 player, burn cds

downloading pics from camera/phone

creating documents if needed

Answer:

i really close to the 80 gb on my dell, but more is always better.

speed erudite..for those uses you wont really notice a difference between 5400 rpm and 7200. so really a moment ago pick whatever size you can afford

(my girlfriend bought a dell next to 30gb harddrive.it was a big mistake!! WAY TOO SMALL)
Get at tiniest a 60GB. You can always burn your stuff to cd when it starts getting full.
Hi,

I can't recommend on a specific product. but here are some tips:

Hard drive is the SLOWEST hardware on your computer. thus, be sure that you buy the fastest (RPM) rugged drive and buy one with SATA 2 interface.
at todays prices, never carry a harddrive smaller than 100gig. its just not worth the getting anything smaller
win what u can afford! mp3's and pics are small data...
If you are going to download lots of music, similar to albums or complete CDs then win the biggest your budget allows. I would go a minimum of 80gb.
check dell site. since you'll be using laptop for downloading you involve a laptop with over 1 GB of RAM.

and an additional thing: don't buy Dell next to preloaded VISTA.
go near a slower harddrive with more space you dont have need of speed unless your gaming and such but since you interested in medium go wiht more space for adjectives you media wants
